Raven Guard - Silenced Bolter Scouts

Scouts, one of my favourite Space Marine models. Yes, they are old, yes their heads look weird ... so I changed them! I've got loads of Scion heads lying around and they look far better than the standard ones. Although, my next Bolter Scout team is getting the night vision goggle heads from the snipers.

This squad always rides around in the finished LS Storm. Either infiltrating with it or deep striking. I really like the look of the scout pistols with silencers, so I added them to their bolters and I had to add loads of equipment to them, they are supposed to be scouting ahead without any chance to resupply.

Raven Guard - Stormhawk Interceptor

Here we go again, the finished Stormhawk Interceptor for my Raven Guard. I actually wanted to finish my two Storm Talons before, but then the Interceptor hit the shelves and I wanted to finish one asap.

Raven Guard - Sniper Scouts in desert camo

I don't know why, but I've always been a fan of space marine scouts. Power armour is ok (when you don't have to paint a big batch of them) ... but scout armour gives the painter more possibilies imo. I also collect and paint Imperial guard, the main reason for that is, that I love to put bags, extra weapons, rucksacks, bottles and whatever on the vehicles and infantry models. This works quite well with sm scouts as well and their vehicles (LS storm), and also to some extend with power armour.

But, less words ... more pictures. I also changed the heads on the scouts and "sculped" hoods for them made of greenstuff. I also modeled an arm for the scout seargent, and gave him a modified sniper rifle, it is supposed to be the special Raven Guard relic "Nihilus". But he's gonna be a standard seargent in the future, because I've bought Sgt. Telion and the "Negotiator rifle" from Anvil industries, and those 2 together will be my new vet. sgt. with the Nihilus.

Raven Guard - Land Speeder Storm in Desert Camo

This is my version of a Space Marine Land Speeder Storm of my Raven Guard. I've always liked camos and military style, but that does not work very well with Space marines though ... but it works with my Raven Guard. As we all know they, they treat the Codex Astartes more as guidelines ... and my scouts already had camo cloaks and uniforms, why not apply it to there dedicated transports as well ? Here we go, enjoy the pics

Raven Guard - Kiavahr pattern Rhino

This Rhino has been heavily modified in order to resemble the design of the Land Raider. I think that Land Raiders look pretty awesome, but Rhinos never appealed to me. So I wanted to create a Rhino which shares some common features with his big brother - this is the result.

2 Taurox Prime fully magnatized !

When I got my first Taurox Prime, I wanted to be able to make all the different versions from one kit. It was easier than expected. But due to the magnets I can't load my Taurox Prime with bags and accessories like I did with my standard Taurox. Now I'm on fence about getting some more Taurox Prime and building just one variant but adding lots of accessories like spare tires etc.

Grey Knights Terminator and Strike Squad Member

I've really enjoyed painting a Grey Knight Strike squad member and a Grey Knight Terminator as samples. The silver colour is really easy to paint and they got so many small bits and details to focus on. But on the other hand, painting a Land Raider or Rhino in silver might a little bit too much. I think that Grey Knight vehicles need a huge part with heraldic on their armour to make them look interesting. But we'll see.

Raven Guard Tactical Squad WIP

Here we go, I noticed my Militarum Tempestus Scions are lacking melee support, so I got back to the roots and started a Raven Guard army (I started 40k with a Raven Guard army years ago).

Back then I couldn't paint black very well, it just looked dull and boring to paint to me, but this changed over the years. I really enjoyed painting these 3 Tactical Marines. What do you think about them ? And I'm really looking forward to painting some vehicles for them, the scheme I want to use for them is a little different from the standard one, I had in mind to paint them like US Police cars in black and white. On the white part there is in letters RAVEN GUARD written on the side and a black Raven. On the black sides further at the back where you find the "911" is their Legion Number written in white.

Enjoy the pics

Taurox - Long Range Reconnaissance Veteran Vehicle in desert camo

This is my version of the standard Taurox for my Imperial Guard in desert camo scheme. It is along the lines of the US camo scheme including identity markings. The wheel kit comes from victoria miniatures and is a perfect add on kit for this model. The mud flaps on the back and small wheel guard are made of plasticard. It was great fun building and painting this model as I did not have to watch out that all the magnetic parts are not obstructed by accessories like with my Taurox Prime models. But now I want all my Taurox to look like this one ^^ Hope you enjoy the pics

Valkyrie - Storm Scion Transport done

This is the first Valkyrie I've ever build and painted. It's for my Storm Scions in desert camo. I wanted to remain close to a Forge World drawing of a desert Valkyrie, so I ordered those extra fuel tanks for them too. The interior is completely painted, the heavy bolter gunners are magnatized, as well as the Multilaser/Lascannon. The fuel tanks and missile launchers are magnatized. I've installed the fuel tanks further back because it looks better and in case I take the heavy bolters, I can still open the doors and have a line of sight and it makes it look more realistic imo. I've really enjoyed painting this model, many details and ways to make it look cool :) The base ain't done yet, waiting for some inspiration I guess.

I've been wanting to do a noseart for ages and finally I've been given a chance with this model. The valk still needs a name though, perhaps you got some ideas ? The freehand noseart was inspired by graphics from http://elias-chatzoudis.deviantart.com/gallery/

Wheeled Taurox upgrade kit by Victoria Miniatures

When the first the leaked images of the Taurox Prime found their way on the common sites, I liked most of overall Taurox design, the similarities to modern MRAPs like the Cougar and the roof of a Humvee. But the tracks ... those tiny ones on the front did not look very appealing or helping the model imo. I build the model as it was but kept browsing the internet for good conversion kits, a 6-wheeled variant popped up on spikeybits which looked like an improvement, but not enough to buy it. But then I stumbled over Victoria Miniatures, who seemed to have the perfect solution:

White Dwarf Daily - Hidden message "Across the sea ..."

There's a suspicious gap on todays article of the white dwarf daily by Dan Harden.

When you mark the gap with your mouse, you can read the following: "Across the Sea of Claws they will come, aboard rotten ships on foetid tides."

Small scale tournament with Militarum Tempestus

We had a small tournament at our local GW store a week ago. Nothing fancy, 500 points, FOC = ally formation (1hq, 1 elite, 2 troops, 1 fast, 1 heavy) with tactical mission cards on a 4x4 board.

Victory condition: score the most points, if you table someone, you get +5 points on top of the points you already scored during that mission. 4 games, and maelstrom of war missions 1-4.

Project - Valkyrie - Storm Scions Transport

Another week, a new project. This time it is about air support for my Scions. Or rather a new stylish transport with great support weapons.

When I started with 40k (sharing a Blackreach box with a good friend .. he got the orks), I've always eyed at the Imperial Guard section and the Valkyrie. I think it's design is peferct, as bulky as a Mi-Hind 24, WWII plane back fins, narrow cockpit like Apacha/Tiger helicopter, but bigger wings and hover thrusters. You can really imagine it flying around at your local airbase / airport. hmm .. like here :)

DIY adhesive stickers - an alternative approach to decals

I've never been a fan of decals. Some may experience difficulties with applying them to models and to get them into place, without ripping them apart. My problem with them has been, they've always looked  too shiny, or too much like stickers applied to the model. I'm aware of the multitude of hobby supplies concerning this issue like Tamiya decal softener etc.

But my second problem with decals is, often they are not the size, symbol, letter or number I need/want. That's when I had the idea of making a stencil of the whatever I need. So I went and bought some a4 adhesive sticker paper for my ink printer. "Designed" the sheet I wanted:

How to fully magnetize a Taurox Prime

Today I'm showing you how to fully magnetize a Taurox Prime. Some may ask if it is really worth doing it, I think it is.

When playing a Scions army the Taurox is your main workhorse, and anti tank unit. You can even stay back with it and outshoot Tau, because the Taurox Prime fitted with missile launcher and autocannons has a range of 48" (I'm not saying that's a very clever tactic, but you can do it). On the other hand the Gatling cannon + Hotshot volley gun is a great infantry killer. You can also mix anti tank and anti vehicle weapons to be able to take on everything. I enjoy giving my anti infantry Taurox a Hunter Killer missile, so it can shoot stuff in the first round, before something gets in range of the 24" weapons.

Stormclaw - Killa Cans - 2 models done

When I first heard of the Stormclaw set, I was really looking forward to it and its content. It didn't let me down, on the choice of models for the orks. I've always liked the Killa can models, but never came around to buy a set.

I've got enough models to paint at the moment, focusing on my Scions. But I just had to paint a few of the Cans, because the models are awesome. When painting them up, I also wanted to create some nice looking bases which add to the story of the model.

I think about making a "How to.." post of how to create those bases when I get to the third can.

My orks are Blood Axes, and my paint scheme tries to reflect that as well, so all models got red parts, some more .. some less. Enjoy the pics and leave a comment if you are in the mood :)

The Can with the Bazooka is magnatized, but the other big shoota arm hasn't been finished yet.

Grukk Face-Rippa leaked

Got some news in. Grukk got the following profile (everything is standard like a normal warboss except for:)

He costs as much as 13 Ratlings.

His Klaw got the shred special rule. And he comes standard with Feel no pain.
He got one of the Warlord traits in the Ork Codex, the one that let you reroll failed moral checks.

Land Speeder Darkshroud/Vengeance 2.0 completed

There has finally been some progress concerning this model. It took my ages to combine a stock Land Speeder and the Vengeance into one model and to get the look I wanted. Without that strange pulpit at the front, I've always felt sorry for that poor guy at the front.

Without further ado, enjoy the pictures of the finished Land Speeder Darkshroud/Vengeance 2.0

Ork customized Battlewagon - Done

I'm finally done with the basic version of my ork Battlewagon with integrated death rolla. Only spare parts from different gw kits were used. The big shootaz on the small turret can be removed and  replaced by 2 bazookaz (magnets).
